What does each inventory figure in Nova mean?

Nova reads your stock from Amazon's Manage FBA Inventory report and keeps Amazon's words for each state: Available, Reserved, Unfulfillable, Researching, Inbound. Where Amazon has no word, for stock you hold or have on order, Nova uses its own. Days of supply divide by your own recent sales, never by Amazon's forecast.

Which figures come from you?

Units (At warehouse / 3PL)Your countUnits at your warehouse, 3PL or prep center, with the count date. Blank is unknown, 0 is a count

How are days of supply calculated?

Daily units sold is the average of your units sold over the 30 days before the inventory report's day, weighted toward recent days: each day counts 0.9 times the day after it. Cancelled orders are left out.

FigureNumeratorRed belowYellow below
Days of supply at AmazonSellable7 days14 days
Days of supply after inboundSellable + Reserved + Inbound units + AWD stock + Inbound to AWD14 days35 days
Days of supply with your warehouseThe above + At warehouse / 3PL + On orderYour lead timeLead time + target stock

Each figure divides its numerator by Daily units sold. Reserved units stay out of the first because they are already in your sales. The Running out at Amazon and Still short after inbound chips use the 14 and 35 day thresholds.

Amazon's Historical days of supply, behind the low-inventory-level fee, is another number: average inventory divided by average shipped units.

Worked example

Available 280, FC transfer 20, Reserved 40, Unfulfillable 5, Shipped 150, Receiving 50, Daily units sold 10:

  • Sellable 300, so 30.0 days of supply at Amazon.
  • Total at Amazon 345.
  • Running total 300 + 40 + 200 = 540, so 54.0 days of supply after inbound.

How is stock value computed?

The Stock value on each stock location tile is your Sellable units times each SKU's latest COGS per unit, in your workspace currency. A SKU without a COGS counts 0; the tile reads Stock value ยท no COGS yet when nothing is priced. Click the figure for every unit you own at cost, state by state, AWD and warehouse counts included. Your FBM listed quantity is shown there, outside the total. See COGS.

Where you see it

  • App: Inventory page and the stock columns of the Cockpit.
  • MCP: query_inventory and get_inventory_overview.
  • Data Share: the inventory table. Its fba_total column is Available + Reserved, kept unchanged since it shipped; Total at Amazon is fba_sellable + fba_reserved + fba_unsellable + fba_researching.

Nova reads the FBA inventory report and AWD every 8 hours, and FBM listings once a day. See Refresh times.
