How does Nova read Amazon's payments and deductions?

A remittance is a payment from Amazon and the list of documents it settles: the invoices it paid and everything it deducted. Nova reads them every day from the Finance Remittance API, the same data as Payments, Remittance in Vendor Central, sorts each line into a family, and books the deductions that are costs into your 1P P&L.

How does Nova read remittances?

  • Daily at 17:15 UTC, re-reading payments dated in the last 60 days: Amazon lists a payment late and updates its status.
  • 24 months of payment dates when you connect.
  • A payment counts once it went through: completed, or in progress for more than 14 days. Announced and failed payments are listed, not counted.
  • Transfer or offset: a transfer moves money to your bank; an offset settles invoices against deductions with no money moving.
  • One line per document tranche: one co-op document is often taken over many payments.

How is each line classified?

Nova reads Amazon's line type, description and document number, in this order. The first rule that matches wins:

#Amazon's lineFamily
1Description names a shortage claim or a missed adjustmentShortage claim
1Description names a price claimPrice claim
2Type InventoryInvoice payment
3A provision for aged receivables or a post-audit, and its reversalProvision
4C2FO discountEarly-payment discount
5Type ChargebacksChargeback, with the defect in English
6Type Amazon Marketing ServicesAdvertising
7Type Distributor returns, or a returns documentReturn to vendor
8RETURN FREIGHT CHARGESReturn freight
9Type Contra CogsCo-op and allowances: Co-op, SPA, AVS, Damage Allowance, Price Protection, Freight Allowance
10Freight Deduction or Misc Deduction of a referenceOther deduction
11Anything elseNot classified, with Amazon's own type and description

A positive line in a deduction family is a payback and nets against it. Nova never guesses from a number prefix.

Where does each deduction land in the P&L?

Deductions are account lines: they land on the account, never spread across your products.

Nova converts each deduction to your workspace currency at the rate of the payment date.

Is the co-op still shown under Amazon fees?

Yes, as a named line. On a 1P P&L, Amazon fees opens on four lines: Co-op and allowances, Chargebacks, Return freight, Other deductions. They add up to the total.

Before Amazon's first co-op document reaches your remittances, Nova estimates it: your net received × the co-op Amazon accrued over the last 30 days as a share of your shipped COGS (90 days when 30 hold under 5,000 of shipped COGS, else the latest rate). The line reads Co-op and allowances (est. N%), or (partly est.) for a period that straddles that document. From the document on, the line is the real co-op.

The co-op under Amazon's shelf is another figure: Amazon's accrual on what it shipped.

Where you see it

  • App: the Amazon fees lines of the Profit & Loss page, the Amazon owes you band, and the invoice register's tabs: Open, Paid (each payment with its lines) and Deducted (twelve months of deductions by family).
  • MCP: query_vendor_remittances, by payment or by line.
  • Data Share: vendor_remittances, one row per line with its family and line_class, in the payment currency with Amazon's signs. vendor_product_metrics carries the converted deductions.
